"We plan on him starting against Alabama. He actually played three quarters pretty well then obviously the two fumbles were pretty bad plays. Can he stop fumbling? We're going to give him a chance to stop fumbling. He hasn't thrown a lot of picks this year so other than the fumbles, he's played pretty decently." -- South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier on quarterback Stephen Garcia, following practice Tuesday night.

Post Florida Reviews
The media is crediting Boise, but that obscure team from Tuscaloosa needed to prove itself. Defending national champion Alabama leveled Florida 31-6, a feat that left Urban Meyer speechless. Bama has a relentless offense balanced by arguably the two best running backs in college football. Their defense that lost nine starters has not allowed a second-half touchdown. The “inexperienced” secondary has six interceptions in the last two games. The Crimson Tide has been demonstrably the best team in the country, through five games

Florida DT Jaye Howard - Ingram is just like Any Other Running Back
“He is no different from any other running back,” Howard said after Saturday’s win over Kentucky. “We have Jeff Demps on our team, Mike Gillislee, so we go against good backs in practice. We are just going to try to bring it to them.”

The Season Begins .. SEC Play Starts with Arkansas in Fayettville!
Alabama led 45-13 at halftime and coasted to the easy victory against Duke. It never faced a third-down play in the first two quarters as it piled up 382 total yards.
Arkansas almost went into to OVT against Georgia. The Hogs won on a last second TD pass.

“Unbalanced Beef”
Right tackle D.J. Fluker, who is 6-foot-6 and weighs 330 pounds, moved to left tackle.
That pushed 6-foot-5, 300-pound tackle James Carpenter out to the tight end spot.
It doesn’t have a name yet, but “unbalanced beef” wouldn’t be far off.

SEC: Week 1
Wide-open Tide: With Heisman Trophy running back Mark Ingram watching from the sideline while recovering from knee surgery, Alabama served notice that it can be just as explosive in the passing game as it can the running game. The Crimson Tide finished with 334 passing yards in their 48-3 thrashing of San Jose State and showed an assortment of different formations and looks, no doubt giving Penn State a few things to think about next week. Greg McElroy threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Marquis Maze, and A.J. McCarron tossed a 29-yard touchdown pass to a diving Julio Jones. The Crimson Tide also showed a little bit of the Wildcat and Pistol formations. Obviously, this is an offense that can do a lot more than just turn around and hand the ball off to the tailback, although Alabama still does that as well as anybody.

Bama Routes SJSU 48-3 ...
Bama's offense destroyed the SJSU defense from play #1. Bama's defense destroyed SJSU's offense after they settled into the game (2nd SJSU possession).
A couple of things that were mighty impressive;
1. Freshman LB CJ Mosley was everywhere. He is going to be an All American before long.
2. DJ Fluker was dominating at Right Tackle.
3. Lacy an Goode, both very hard an impressive runners.
4. AJ McCarron - 9-of-15 for 116 yards & no ints.
"I'm really pleased with the effort and intensity we had. We worked to try to dominate the competition," Saban said of Saturday's meeting with the Spartans. "The goal all along was to develop an identity."

San Jose State News
Senior Jordan La Secla will start at quarterback.
Brandon Rutley is the No. 1 tailback but will share time with Lamon Muldrow, last year's top rusher (592 yards), and David Freeman, a transfer from Washington.
True freshman Vince Buhagiar will start at middle linebacker in place of the injured Pompey Festejo, who could miss the entire season while recovering from a broken foot.
Ailao Eliapo will play both ways against the Crimson Tide, as the starting right guard and the backup defensive lineman.
Sophomore David Quessenberry will start at left tackle in place of Fred Koloto, who is expected to miss at least another week with a knee injury.

Things to Watch (SEC West)
Turning the Tide on defense: It’s difficult to imagine an Alabama defense that struggles with Nick Saban running the show, not to mention knowing how well the Crimson Tide have recruited on that side of the ball. But the first scrimmage of the preseason would seem to suggest that Alabama has a ways to go on defense, part of which was expected when you lose nine starters. The secondary remains the biggest concern, especially with a couple guys back there battling injuries right now. The good thing for Alabama is that it's not a talent issue. The issue is an overall lack of experience. The threesome of defensive end Marcell Dareus, middle linebacker Dont’a Hightower and safety Mark Barron is as good as it gets, but guys like cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, cornerback DeMarcus Milliner, safety Robert Lester, nose guard Kerry Murphy and linebacker Chris Jordan will end up determining how good this defense will be in 2010. Obviously, if Dareus is suspended for any length of time because of agent-related issues, that would be a huge blow to the Tide.

We've Got a Very Immature Team
Quote from Coach Saban..
"We've got a very immature team in a lot of ways," Saban told them, "in terms of how much playing time they have, how much experience they've been able to gain. ... The one thing we all have to be careful of is having unrealistic expectations of what the accomplishments will be and then becoming very negative in our attitude to what's happened."
I think that he nailed it! RTR
