Some Rest Time for the Tide this Week ....

Alabama's team is taking a free Monday before returning to practice tomorrow, giving everyone a rare opportunity at some elusive down time during a hectic regular season. The Crimson Tide is scheduled to work out Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday before breaking for the bye weekend.

Fall Practice is about to Begin!

Alabama will practice at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Aug. 9, 15 and 22, the first being the annual Fan Day workout. Per usual, all practices except for Fan Day are closed to the public.

The team will hold two-a-day practices Aug. 11, 13 and 17.

The Tide will be off the 16th, and Aug. 23-24. It will start to get into its regular routine the final week of camp, with the regular practice schedule kicking into gear Monday, Aug. 31, in preparation for the Sept. 5 opener against Virginia Tech at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Nick Saban also talked briefly about scheduling, noting three upcoming home-and-home series with Penn State, Georgia Tech and Michigan State as games that he "likes to play." He repeated a notion that he has mentioned before in regards to future scheduling, saying that it would be exciting from five of the nation's top programs, "including ones that have a history with Alabama," to agree to a set of home-and-home games spanning a decade.

ESPN is announcing that Alabama's Sept. 5 season-opening football game in Atlanta against Virginia Tech will kick off at 7 p.m. and be televised nationally on ABC, just like last year's Clemson game.

Alabama will host Georgia Southern on Nov. 19, 2011, in the first meeting ever between the two schools.

Alabama and Michigan State University to Play in 2016 & 2017

The University of Alabama and Michigan State University have signed a contract for a home-and-home football series in 2016 and 2017.

The two schools have never met in football, and the first matchup is scheduled for Sept. 3, 2016, in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Alabama will visit Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, Mich., on Sept. 2, 2017.
