"Saban Bowl I"

'Bama vs. LSU - Nov 3rd

The game has several major story lines in addition to the coaching match-up. No. 3 LSU (7-1) and No. 22 Alabama (6-2) will be playing for first place in the Southeastern Conference West. Each team is 4-1 in the West with three league games to play. Alabama, which appeared in the first three and in four of the first five SEC championship games from 1992-96, has not played in the SEC title game since 1999 when it beat Florida 34-7.

The Tigers will also be playing to stay in contention for the Bowl Championship Series national championship game on Jan. 7 in New Orleans. No team has ever made that game with two losses.

Both teams took the weekend off after practicing most of last week.
