The Alabama coaching staff did receive a major commitment last week from Don’ta Hightower (6-foot-4, 245 pounds), a four-star defensive end from Lewisburg-Marshall County (Tenn.). Hightower chose the Tide over several, including the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Hightower’s commitment gives Alabama’s 2008 class two of the state of Tennessee’s top prospects. Barrett Jones, the top prospect in the Volunteer State from Cordova-Evangelical Christian, gave his verbal commitment to Alabama last week.
The Alabama coaching staff hopes to land Chris Jordan, a four-star running back from Brentwood Academy (Tenn.). Jordan is leaning toward the Tide and is closing in on his college decision.
The commitment of Hightower gives Alabama 22 commitments.
