The College Football Season opens Seven Weeks from Today!!

On Aug. 28 there will be a Pacific-10 game (Oregon State at Stanford) and a border battle (North Carolina State at South Carolina). The next day is June Jones' debut as SMU coach after taking Hawaii to the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The Mustangs play a Conference USA game at Rice.

The first Saturday features last year's giant killers, Armanti Edwards-led Appalachian State, at LSU. It's the first time defending champs from Division I's subdivisions will meet to open a season. ASU famously won at Michigan last year.

Later, Clemson meets Alabama in Atlanta. Sunday, instate rivals Kentucky and Louisville will meet. The weekend ends Monday in Pasadena, Calif., with Tennessee vs. UCLA in Rick Neuhiesel's debut as coach at his alma mater.
