Alabama at Clemson 8 PM Saturday, August 30th
- After a difficult first season with the Tide, Nick Saban gets thrown right into the fire with this game against the powerful Tigers in supposedly neutral Atlanta in what should be an interesting and raucous atmosphere. Alabama had an impressive influx of talent during recruiting this year but the senior class is less than impressive. The best part of the Crimson Tide offense should be the offensive line and left tackle Andre Smith should be a dominant blocker who opens holes the way Chris Samuels once did for Alabama. The offensive line will also have to give quarterback John Parker Wilson the time to find his new group of talented yet inexperienced receivers.
- Clemson hasn’t won the ACC title since 1991 but that could change this year because Tommy Bowden’s team is loaded with talent and ready to pounce. James Davis and C.J. Spiller will be able to run the ball all day and quarterback Cullen Harper has a slew of receivers to choose from. As good as the offense should be, the defense may be even better. Chris Chancellor and Michael Hamlin are two of the best defensive backs in the nation. A win here could allow the Tigers to bring an undefeated record into October.
