The University of Alabama’s Nick Saban took a step closer to nearly sweeping the national college football coach of the year honors when he was named the winner of the Eddie Robinson Award for the second time in six years on Tuesday night in Fort Lauderdale.
The Eddie Robinson Award is determined through voting by the Football Writers Association of America, sponsored by the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and presented in conjunction with the Bowl Championship Series championship game, which will be played Thursday night.
“Nick Saban has proven to be a winner wherever he has gone,” FWAA president Ron Higgins said in a release. “He has re-established Alabama as a national power in quick fashion. He was an overwhelming choice by our members for this very prestigious award.”
