Here's a poll asking who was the best tailback of the last quarter century? A Quarter Century of Great Tide Tailbacks
The options they give are:
Shaun Alexander
Kenneth Darby
Shaud Williams
Gene Jelks
Dennis Riddle
Sherman Williams
Siran Stacy
Glenn Coffee
Bobby Humphery
They are ALL GREAT! Of Course, Shaun Alexander is the most well known and the best on this list. However, I think they forgot one! Remember a back by the name of Derrick Lassic from the '92 National Championship? Remember his 2 touchdowns (3 yards & 15 yards) against Florida in the SEC Championship Game, which helped get 'Bama to the National Chamiponship Game?
His final stats for the '92 season were; 178 rushes for a net of 905 yards, 5.1 Yard-Per-Carry avg, 10 TD's, with a long run of 42 yards and a per game avg of 75.4 yards.
The Crimson Tide did destroy the Miami Hurricanes 34-13 and went on to a perfect 13-0 season! Who was on the cover of SI? Yes, Derrick Lassic!
