- The Tide, which had been working with five quarterbacks, now has seven.
- Chris Vines, a former quarterback at Pelham High School, who signed with the Atlanta Braves in '03 only to have his career end in '06.
- Offensive line signee Kellen Williams of Brookwood High School in Snellville, Ga. Williams, who was wearing No. 63 and working with the offensive line, had knee surgery after suffering an injury in a charity basketball game and did not report with the original 105 players on hand when practice opened Aug. 5.
