Game Ball to Shaun Alexander ...

Former Tide great, running back Shaun Alexander, to help break the quarterback out of his funk. Alexander stayed on the sideline after delivering a game ball before kickoff.

“Shaun Alexander pulled me aside and said, ‘It’s going to click here in a minute. It’s going to get easy for you,’” McElroy said. “That really got my confidence up.”

At the half, McElroy was an ugly 6-for-18 for 94 yards with an interception. In the second half, he completed 9 of 12 attempts for 136 yards with the 18-yard touchdown pass to Mark Ingram and a two-point conversion pass to tight end Colin Peek.
