STAFF PICKS: Alabama vs. South Carolina
** The Crimson Tide's defense sits currently in the nation's top 10 in total defense (2nd), rushing defense (7th), scoring defense (8th) and pass defense (7th).
** Welcome back Jerrell Harris. Harris adds needed depth at the "Will" position.
** True freshman Nico Johnson started at Will against Ole Miss and is likely to retain the spot tonight.
** South Carolina, meanwhile, will be without two offensive contributors. Starting left guard Heath Batchelor quit the team Thursday & the second-leading rusher Jarvis Giles was suspended and would not make the trip.

Alabama 26, South Carolina 13
Steve Spurrier comes to Tuscaloosa needing to play ball-control and stingy defense in order to win. My, how times have changed. The Gamecocks have an outstanding pass rusher in Eric Norwood and a solid defense. Greg McElroy will continue to be forced by tough defenses to prove himself as a passer, especially after his difficulties last week against Ole Miss. But unless Spurrier's old Florida offenses make the trip with him, Alabama should be able to tee off on the Gamecocks' 63rd-ranked offense.
